End Date Missing

Recently Viewed | Partnership Programs | Salesforce

Background on "List Views": On a list view, you can see all the records that have been created with that particular object. You can create a quick report using a List View, as long as you don't have to add fields from other objects (this caveat isn't strictly true when you are using Apsona, but sticking solely with Salesforce it's a kind of frustrating truth.)

Recently Viewed is not the place to look for your end date.

FY20 Finance & Agreement Materials In | Partnership Programs | Salesforce

Notice that in FY20, the end date was visible on the Partnership Program List View. That is, looking at this list view as a System Administrator, *I* can see the end date.

The rest of this article will take you through troubleshooting steps if you run in to a similar problem elsewhere in Salesforce.

Start in Setup

Click the Gear-shaped icon, and then click Setup.

I'm going into Salesforce as Brandy Hill

Of course, when you are in Salesforce, you will automatically see what you can see and you won't see what you don't have permission to see.

Trish logs in as you, to see what you can see

FY23 Finance & Agreement Materials | Partnership Programs | Salesforce

In the FY23 Finance and Agreement Materials List View...

I Click Select fields to display. (At this point, I thought you should be able to see the End date field, and so we're going here to demonstrate how to do this. (I was wrong in my assumption, as we'll see soon...)

FY23 Finance & Agreement Materials | Partnership Programs | Salesforce

No field called "End Date" shows up. Hmmmm...

FY23 - BEA - In-school Residency seen as Brandy...

No date fields appear in the Program Dates section. This section appears to me, and while the section itself is visible, the other fields in this section are missing.

I head to the Partnership Program object (still as Brandy)

I go to the Page Layouts in the Partnership Program Object...

I see the Program Dates section with its various fields. This is when I look at this Page Layout as Trish, Sys Admin.

I go to your profile and click on All-Access

Go to Object Settings

This is where page layouts are assigned and field level security can be changed, which is what I think happened to your End Date field.

All-Access has all the permissions for the object itself...

But the fields are severely restricted.

I've added Start Date, End Date and Culmination Date to your All-Access Profile

I also had to make it visible

  • Go to Setup > Object Manager > Partnership Program > Click the button Field Accessibility
  • Choose the field you want to be able to see
  • Change the Field Access to Editable. This makes it accessible to anyone with your profile.

Here is the field checked as visible.

Now I log in again, as Brandy...

I'm trying to add the start and end dates, but they aren't coming up. I am going to let this just sit for a while, and come back in a couple of hours. Sometimes, Salesforce takes a while to update the permissions that various users are granted.
