Memorize this. There WILL be a quiz...LOL, just kidding.

Copy/Paste your spreadsheet values

This page, for importing new records, should have these fields configured like this.

The Match Fields options can be changed if you have another way of finding unique records. Since we knew we didn't have any duplicate names, we used this.

Next

Match your spreadsheet column headings with Salesforce fields

Keep Stop and Show Errors until you have resolved as many of the errors you can. Then go to Omit Erroneous Errors and click Next.

Review Fields

At this point, you can download the match results to get the IDs of all the records that are already in your system.

You can also Save Mapping, so you don't have to tediously match fields on the last step if you have data that will have the same configuration in the future.

Click Import

ALWAYS download results

You will be super sad if you forget this step. Click done.

Now go to Salesforce and inspect the records to make sure you got what you thought you were getting.
