These two record types are redundant, as the org only uses one. I'm leaving the Volunteer Job recordtype because it is no doubt mentioned in the automation around Vols 4 Salesforce.

Also marked Purchase Order Record Type as not ACTIVE, and added Deprecated to the name

• I've updated the picklists on the Volunteer Job record type to fit those.

1. From the contact page, assign a volunteer to a Volunteer Job or Shift in the New Volunteer Hours related list on the contact

I created a formula checkbox that is called Expired Checkbox (We can rename it to Inactive as well). In the future, when the date is older than TODAY, the box will be checked as inactive. Tested by logging a Volunteer Job that was yesterday and the field works.

All the Volunteer Jobs with Harvest Dates not empty are showing Expired Checkbox if their Harvest Date is before TODAY.
